I'm not sure when it started, the idea of getting a motorhome and going off to have wild adventures. At our age, the word wild is used rather playfully, although, on occasions, the odd game of Uno can get pretty debauched. I think the genesis of the concept came from using our estate car to travel Europe, either skiing in the Alps or to visit my brother in Andalusia. The sense of freedom to stop and go as you please, to change plans or direction on a whim was addictive.
Our motor homing journey actually began in 2017. We’d wanted one for several years, but like many people, work commitments and bringing up a family had rendered any thoughts of spending large chunks of time away from home unfeasible.
After our son had grown up, we decided to cut back on work to free up a substantial proportion of the year in order to take the plunge and buy one. After lengthy research and a visit to a few motorhome shows, we finally bought our Adria Twin (Brian) in September of 2017.
With the season practically over we frustratingly had to park him up until the following year, but vowed to visit my brother in Spain as soon as the weather became tantalisingly warm enough there after winter.
Since that inaugural trip, we’ve spent large chunks of every year traveling around Europe living the transient lifestyle. Every trip is a few months long, with an itinerary which is often just to chase the good weather. So far we’ve taken Brian to France, Spain, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Slovenia, Luxembourg, Croatia, and Italy, but there's still plenty of World left to see.
